Further Context on GPAs of Cornell Students

The data bear out what you probably already knew was true: Cornell students were academic hard hitters in high school. While the class rank distributions shared above are not quite as skewed towards the upper tenth percentile as other Ivy League schools (if you can believe it), there should be no doubt that Cornell expects the best of the best when it comes to high school GPA.

With that being said, Cornell conducts a holistic admission review process in which grades form one important aspect of many weighed when deliberating between candidates. Think about it: how many incredibly dull students must be out there with 4.0 GPAs? If Cornell prioritized perfect grades alone, it wouldn’t be, well, Cornell.

Can My Child Get into Cornell with a Low GPA?

It’s hard to say for certain whether students with poor GPAs (below 3.0) stand a chance in the Cornell admission process, as this data has been withheld from the public’s prying eyes.
