Applicants to the Wellesley College Class of 2030 have learned their fates by now. Ivy Coach’s Crystal Ball Takes on the Wellesley College Class of 2030

While we at Ivy Coach like to joke about our famously accurate crystal ball, all jokes aside, we do have a wealth of experience and expertise in predicting elite college admissions statistics. Drawing on this knowledge, here’s what we predict for the Wellesley College Class of 2030:

For the Class of 2030, applications to Wellesley College will likely stay around last year’s 8,506. Applications to Wellesley have stayed relatively consistent over the past five years, and there’s not much reason there would be a significant dip or surge this application cycle. That means Wellesley’s acceptance rate will remain mighty competitive. 

What will stay consistent is Wellesley’s love for applicants for students who make binding commitments to attend. In the past five admissions cycles, the Early Decision admission rate to Wellesley has been dramatically higher than the Regular Decision admission rate. And Early Decision admits make up well over half of  Wellesley’s past five classes. If you want in at Wellesley, we at Ivy Coach would strongly advise applying Early Decision.

What Separates Successful Wellesley Applicants from the Rest

As Wellesley becomes even more competitive to get into, the women admitted become even more impressive. Let’s quickly discuss what separated the applicants admitted to the Wellesley College Class of 2029 from the rest. The average SAT score for the Wellesley College Class of 2029 was a 1500, and the average ACT score was a 34. Though Wellesley is test-optional, we at Ivy Coach believe that not submitting test scores can only ever hurt an applicant’s chances, even to supposedly test-optional schools. And while Wellesley fails to release data on the GPA and class rank of its admitted students, it’s safe to say that admits are coming in with GPAs well above 3.75 (many, we would bet, have perfect 4.0s) and are in the top tenth of their high school class. 

These applicants also definitely boasted impressive extracurricular achievements. This means depth over breadth. depth over breadth. If you’re a member of the debate team, the robotics team, the field hockey team, and the drama department…well, then, you’re merely a member of those groups. You don’t stand out in any of these pursuits. Wellesley College would much rather accept a nationally ranked debate champ than a kid who spent an hour or two on debate a week because he spent the rest forgetting Shakespeare lines and fumbling the ball in football practice. 

Finally, let’s look at the waitlist for the Wellesley College Class of 2029. 1,299 students were offered a spot on the waitlist. 34 of them were eventually admitted. That’s a waitlist acceptance rate of 2.62%.
