What is to be made of the data laid out above? Well, for one thing, it should provide a certain degree of reassurance, as every year the University of Georgia has had a waitlist, students on it have been admitted. This is by no means a given at many elite universities. Still, there is a ton of variability in the waitlist acceptance rate from year to year. For the Class of 2026, for example, only 2.26% of waitlisted students received acceptance letters, while over 70% of the Class of 2024 did. And here’s why:

3. Reach out to the University of Georgia admissions office. Now is not the time to ponder the what-ifs or seek out answers to questions you’ll never receive. Don’t waste their time and yours!
4. Send follow-up letters after submitting your Letter of Continued Interest. One letter is sufficient, and subsequent communications will annoy and alienate your application reader.
5. Conduct ridiculous waitlist campaigns. Billboards. Gifts. Smoke signals. It’s all been done before, and none of it has yielded the results the desperate families who do it hope for.
