RPI has not yet published their Class of 2029 Common Data Set, let alone the CDS for the Class of 2030. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for those numbers, as the most recent year’s class data can always give us more of a hint about what they’ll be looking for next year. Luckily, there’s historical data for us to analyze while we wait, so let’s go ahead and get right into it!

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute GPA Requirements

Our motto at Ivy Coach is the higher the better for all numerical statistics, but let’s take a look at the high school GPA breakdown of enrolled students in the Class of 2028 to see just how high prospective applicants should be aiming. From enrolled students in the Class of 2028, a total of 92% of them submitted their GPA, so this is a great comparison to make if you’re a prospective applicant wondering how your chances line up. For some mysterious reason, the 2022-2023 Common Data Set is unavailable to view unless you are a member of the RPI community, so we went back a year further to check out the Class of 2025. Of the enrolled students, 93.04% reported and the average GPA was 3.88.

What is a Good GPA for RPI?

Based on the GPAs of enrolled students for the past three years, students should be aiming above a 3.50 GPA, if not higher. Especially if you don’t want to be in the bottom 10% of enrollees (which we assume no one does). In fact, about a third of the students who enrolled and submitted GPAs each year had a perfect 4.0!
