Ivy Coach’s Crystal Ball Takes On the Claremont McKenna Class of 2030

While we at Ivy Coach like to joke about our famously accurate crystal ball, all jokes aside, we do have a wealth of experience and expertise in predicting elite college admissions statistics. Drawing on this knowledge, here’s what we predict for the Claremont McKenna Class of 2030:

For the Class of 2030, applications to Claremont McKenna will increase, in all likelihood at least 500 more applicants than the Class of 2029 saw. Applications to Claremont McKenna have been on the rise the past many years, as has been the case with most other elite colleges. From the Class of 2027 to the Class of 2029 alone, there was an increase of over 1,000 applications to Claremont McKenna. From there, our crystal ball becomes a calculator. As application numbers rise, acceptance rates will diminish: Claremont McKenna prides itself on being a small school with a tight knit community and close student-faculty relationships; that’s not going to change anytime soon. The admissions dip probably won’t be anything too drastic, but it’ll be down from the Class of 2029. 

What will stay consistent is Claremont McKenna’s love for applicants who make binding commitments to attend. In the past five admissions cycles, the Early Decision admission rate to Claremont McKenna has been dramatically higher than the Regular Decision admission rate. And Early Decision admits make up well over half of Claremont McKenna’s past five classes. If you want in at Claremont McKenna, we at Ivy Coach would strongly advise applying Early Decision. 

As Claremont McKenna becomes more competitive to get into, its student body becomes even more impressive with each passing year. Let’s quickly discuss what that 9.43% of applicants who got into Claremont McKenna share. 64% of admits were in the top tenth of their high school graduating class. The average SAT score for the Claremont McKenna Class of 2029 was a 1510, and the average ACT score was a 34. 

Let’s also look at the demographics of those students: 267 students admitted hailed from California, and 273 came from other states. That’s about a 50/50 split between in-state and out-of-state admits. 115 admits were from countries outside of the United States. 

In terms of the waitlist for the Claremont McKenna Class of 2029, 711 were offered a spot on the waitlist, with 61 eventually being admitted. That’s an 8.6% waitlist acceptance rate.
