Wellesley College remains a top destination for some of the most academically ambitious students out there. This historic member of the Seven Sisters has maintained a stellar reputation for well over 150 years. Wellesley is known, in part, for the draw of its Early Decision program, which only accepted 30.23% of applicants to the Class of 2028. While this wasn’t a record for the private liberal arts college (that distinction goes to the Class of 2027, in which 29.20% of Early Decision applicants saw their dreams of joining Wellesley’s fiercely feminist campus realized), the Early Decision rate remained much higher than the overall acceptance rate, which clocked in at 13% that year.

Wellesley has yet to release the Class of 2029 or 2030 data. So, where is a family of a prospective Wellesley Blue to turn in the absence of recent data? Breakdown of the Wellesley Class of 2030 Early Decision Admits

Unfortunately, Wellesley admissions officers haven’t been all that forthcoming about the details of the Early Decision admits to the Class of 2030. We don’t know how many of these students came from private versus public schools, how many will be the first in their families to attend college, or whether the racial composition of the cohort differs from that of the Regular Decision admits or the class as a whole.

In fact, the only verifiable data we have covers the recently enrolled first-year students residing in Wellesley, Massachusetts for the Class of 2029. It comes directly from the college’s press release about the admits to the Class of 2029 as a whole (that is, combined ED and RD applicants):

“Here’s a look at the admitted class of 2029:

They hail from 47 states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Guam, as well as 31 countries outside the United States.

20% will be the first generation in their families to attend a four-year college.

8% are international citizens.

51% speak a language other than English in their homes.

15 were admitted through the QuestBridge National College Match program.”
