Unfortunately, because CU Boulder offers Early Action (the non-binding option) rather than Early Decision (the binding application option), the school does not publicize any data associated with their Early round acceptance rate. However, we at Ivy Coach can make an educated guess that as with almost every other school that offers an EA option, the acceptance rate is significantly higher in this admissions round because students have indicated that CU Boulder would be a top choice for them, were they admitted.

The big reason Early Action and Early Decision rates are historically higher than Regular Decision rates is because colleges want to protect their yield as much as possible. The yield is the percentage of students who are offered admission and enroll. For example, the Class of 2028 at CU Boulder had a very low yield of just 14.15%. This means they’d likely want to admit more students Early Action to increase the likelihood of boosting their yield. 

A Look Back on the University of Colorado Class of 2029 and Class of 2028

University of Colorado has yet to supply us with any data on the EA admits to the Class of 2029, just like every year past. It seems that well-informed speculation is the best that we at Ivy Coach can do when it comes to CU Boulder’s acceptance rates. Their student newspaper, the CUIndependent, doesn’t even offer any clues! The best we can do is say that the Class of 2028 saw an overall 75.87% acceptance rate.
