For those who haven’t yet heard the good word, Early Decision is the admission program for Syracuse applicants who have absolutely no doubts in their minds that they want to spend the next four years at this Upstate NY research powerhouse. Available via two separate rounds, Early Decision I and Early Decision II, ED requires applicants to make a binding commitment to attend if admitted. In other words, there’s no going back once that application is submitted. But where some see a limitation, others see an opportunity to stand out. After all, Syracuse admission officers prize their ED applicants because they’ve committed themselves to the ‘Cuse and therefore demonstrated their interest in attending.

Up-to-date statistics covering the ED rounds at Syracuse are pretty hard to come by, as Syracuse has opted out of publishing the Common Data Set over the last two years. Still, the historical data stretching back to the 2010s suggests a relative degree of consistency in the combined ED I and ED II acceptance rate, leading us to make a pretty educated guess that the more recent acceptance rate is still clocking in above 50%. In any event, the chart below spells out in no uncertain terms that ED applicants are admitted at a much higher rate than RD applicants:

To date, Syracuse has not yet released any demographic information on the ED I admits to the Class of 2030 (or the Class of 2029, for that matter!).
