Pitzer College is a proud member of the Claremont Consortium, a group of prestigious liberal arts colleges located in the deserts of Southern California. This lofty reputation comes with a fair amount of selectivity, too. But Pitzer, like most other elite institutions, prefers Early Decision applicants over Regular Decision applicants. These students take it upon themselves to strategically leverage the Early Decision admissions boost and convey their interest to Pitzer admissions officers by throwing their hats in the ring early, and this advantage is reflected in the ED acceptance rate at Pitzer over the years.

Case in point: Pitzer Early Decision applicants to the Class of 2028 were admitted at a rate of 42.24%, which stands in stark contrast to the overall acceptance rate for this same period (25.16%). So what accounts for this difference in acceptance? Pitzer admissions officers have a thing for ED applicants because these students have demonstrated their interest in attending. Pitzer rewards this level of commitment with a higher likelihood of acceptance. 

However, unlike most other schools of its caliber, Pitzer’s combined ED I and ED II acceptance rate has actually trended upwards over the last few years. This is an anomalous trend (because, after all, acceptance rates have dwindled at most schools over the same period). So, what’s in store for the Class of 2030?
