Breakdown of the Middlebury College Class of 2029 ED I and II Applicants

As we await the data for the Class of 2030 (decisions are out but the school has yet to release the admissions figures), let’s take a brief walk down memory lane and look at the data for the Class of 2029. According to a report by The Middlebury Campus, the 2024-25 application cycle wasn’t a great year for Middlebury admissions officers, with applications down by 6% from the year before, the overall acceptance rate up by roughly two percentage points (from 12% to 13.9%), and a drop in the US News & World Report list of “Top Liberal Arts Colleges” from number eleven to nineteen. While this data suggests that ED applications were likely down, we don’t know the specific acceptance rates for Early Decision I or II. We do, however, know that “519 students . . .were accepted through binding programs including Early Decision I and II, QuestBridge, The Posse Foundation, and College Track.” 

Despite this dearth of data, we at Ivy Coach can say with the utmost confidence that Early Decision admits to Middlebury this year were likely accepted at a far higher rate than those who chose to wait until the RD round. And why this discrepancy? Because Middlebury admissions officers like it when applicants demonstrate interest (despite what they might claim to the contrary!), and what better way of showing interest than foregoing admission to all other schools to get into Middlebury?
