Early Decision I and Early Decision II are binding admissions rounds that Hamilton reserves for the students who know they want to end up in Clinton, New York for the next four years and have no qualms about making this commitment early on in the application cycle. For example, only 13.62% of the overall Class of 2028 applicants ended up earning admission to Hamilton, compared to a combined total of 29.44% for ED I and II applicants. Taking a gander at the data over the last decade or so, it’s clear that the combined ED acceptance rate has dwindled to record lows in recent years, after staying relatively consistent for most of the 2010s. In fact, a record-low acceptance rate was reported for the most recent year for which we have data: for the Class of 2028.

Unfortunately, no data on Early Decision admits for the Classes of 2030 or 2029 has been reported. But we do know, thanks to the Class of 2029 Profile, that the Class of 2029 as a whole “hails from 24 countries and 39 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the Northern Mariana Islands. They join a student body that hails from 61 countries and 50 states.”
