Applicants to the Purdue University Class of 2030 have learned their fates by now. Purdue University is a public research university with the prestige and acceptance rates of a private college. Ivy Coach’s Crystal Ball Takes on the Purdue Class of 2030

Purdue University’s acceptance rate has plummeted in the past five years: for the Class of 2025, 68.9% of applicants received admission. That’s well over half: back in those innocent days of yesteryear, we at Ivy Coach would not have considered Purdue a competitive university. But my, how the tides have changed. For Purdue’s most recently admitted class, the Class of 2029, only 43.4% of applicants received admission. Most applicants got the axe. That’s a 25.5% drop in the admissions rate over the past five years alone. Lions, tigers, bears, admissions rates! 

So, in light of that, what does Ivy Coach’s famously accurate crystal bowl show us about predictions for the Class of 2030? This downward trend will continue and admissions rates at Purdue will dip even lower, probably by not anything drastic, but we may see Purdue win the limbo contest and crouch just below the 40% bar. 

It’s worth noting that Purdue’s admissions rate varies by major. The acceptance rate for prospective Computer Science majors to the Purdue University Class of 2029 was 42.9%, while for Nursing majors it was only 28.9%. Moreover, Purdue’s student body leans very heavily STEM, as the College of Engineering at Purdue University has a strong reputation.
