Pepperdine University Class of 2030 Statistics in Historical Perspective

The last two admission cycles on record haven’t been kind to the Pepperdine admissions team. Taken as a whole, the data presented above do not indicate that it gets harder to get into the school each year. In fact, the opposite is true. The most recent Class of 2029 admission cycle produced the highest acceptance rate in the last six years, with 67.36% of the 14,239 applicants admitted. Paradoxically, this all-time high acceptance rate was also recorded amid a record-setting applicant pool, with a sizeable cohort of 9,592 students admitted last year. Why would Pepperdine admissions officers opt to admit far more students last year than any prior year? 

Could it have something to do with the yield rate? This institutional metric describes the proportion of admitted students who enroll each year. If the applicant pool of the same size is admitted every year, a lower yield means fewer students on campus. In other words, Pepperdine might be admitting record-high numbers of students to proactively address a diminishing yield. It’s just a theory, but it accounts for the huge upswing in acceptance despite the increase in applications. 

Profile of Pepperdine Admits to the Class of 2030

Demographic information on the Class of 2030 has yet to be released. Whether this year will set any new trends in terms of this year’s Waves (the affectionate term for Pepperdine students on campus) remains to be seen. Alas, the scoop on the socioeconomic, academic, racial, and geographic profile of these admits might not come out until the publication of the 2026-2027 Common Data Set.
