Penn State University’s Class of 2030 in Historical Perspective

Before we can look at the historical admissions data, it’s time we scold Penn State for not maintaining an up-to-date archive of Common Data Sets (an online repository of all things admissions statistics facilitated by the federal government). Penn State admissions officers, publish the 2025-2025 edition of this report so that your future applicants can assess the level of competition that awaits them! We understand not yet publishing the Class of 2030 data, as holding this information close to the vest has become an increasingly popular option for elite colleges seeking to avoid media scrutiny, but the Class of 2029 data is fair game!

With that out of the way, let’s look at the history. Over the last five years of available data, an average of 82,732 students have applied to Penn State University (although this figure tends to rise each year). Of these applicants, an average of 46,569 students are admitted each year, producing an average acceptance rate of 56.21%. Year to year, the acceptance rate has remained relatively consistent.
