Grinnell’s Class of 2030 in Historical Perspective

Grinnell has yet to provide us with any data to chew on regarding the recently admitted Class of 2030. But taking a gander at the historical data going back over the last decade, one notices, well, quite a bit of variation in the Grinnell College acceptance rate. While the prevailing trend has been a decline in acceptance over time, it appears that the real record-setting years for the acceptance rate (punctuated by the Class of 2025) plateaued a few years ago, and the ensuing years have seen a slight rebound. In other words, there’s no telling how the Class of 2030 will look given this variability in the proportion of applicants who earn admission to this elite school, nor is it easy to predict how large the cohort of admitted students will be this year.

In any event, we will report back soon with a fuller picture once the Common Data Set covering this admissions cycle is released.

Demographic Breakdown of Grinnell College’s Class of 2030

We don’t have a stitch of data on the Class of 2030 admitted to Grinnell College… yet. While data on race cannot legally be collected or reported until this new crop of Grinnellians enrolls this fall (per the 2023 SCOTUS ruling on affirmative action), there should be a slow but steady trickle of other demographic information over the next few weeks, ideally including geographic info, socioeconomic breakdowns, intended majors, and more.
