All applicants to Case Western Reserve University’s Class of 2030 have by now been notified of their admissions decision. If this year is anything like last, only 35.31% of those applicants received the good news that they’ve been admitted. While we await the official data from Case Western on the Class of 2030, let’s take a look back at the previous two admissions cycles to get a feel for what getting into Case Western actually looks like.

Further Context on Case Western Reserve University Admissions Statistics

Unfortunately, Case Western Reserve University only makes publicly available the Common Data Sets from the past two years, so we can’t get a look back further in time. But we can see from the most recent admissions cycles (which will bear the most on what the Class of 2030’s data looks like) that Case Western’s admissions rate hovers in that mid-to-high thirties. This makes it a competitive school, which will come as no surprise to anyone who knows a thing or two about the Cleveland school. 

Finally, Case Western’s staggeringly low yield is also something we should flag. Yield is the percentage of admitted students who choose to matriculate. For the Case Western Reserve University Class of 2029, 13,890 were accepted. Only 1,663 chose to enroll. That’s a yield of only 12%. (For comparison, Harvard has a yield of 85%, one of the highest yield rates in the country. Washington University in St. Louis, which is more similar to Case Western, has a yield of 49.97%. Same with Tufts, whose yield was 48.77% for the Class of 2029.) This is good news for those waitlisted to the Case Western Class of 2029; schools with low yields tend to have higher waitlist acceptance rates.

When the acceptance rate for the Class of 2030 is finally released, we forecast it will show a slight decrease in acceptance that sets yet another record for Case Western, but not by any wide margin. Rubbing our all-knowing crystal ball, we would wager that it’ll stay in that mid-30s range, maybe dip a bit lower than 35%. In general, applicants can expect to find a similar pattern to what has been laid out in the chart above.
