Carleton College Class of 2030 Statistics in Historical Perspective

While we don’t yet know specific admissions statistics covering the Class of 2030, the admissions trends over the last few years do put this forthcoming data into perspective. While the prevailing trend over time has been declining acceptance rates at Carleton (compare the Class of 2015’s 30.99% acceptance rate with the record-low 16.63% acceptance rate recorded for the Class of 2026), the last three cycles on record have seen the acceptance rate rebound slightly and land at an average of 21.49%. This leads us to predict that the Class of 2030, whenever it does arrive, will likely show a highly selective, but by no means record-breaking acceptance rate.

The same goes for the volume of applications received each year, which peaked for the Class of 2026 at 8,583 and has since declined to last year’s 6,796. Unless an unexpected upswing in interest in Carleton has taken high schoolers by storm, the most likely scenario is that this year’s admissions data will reveal a modest number of applicants who fail to break any new records but nonetheless carry the torch of Carleton’s reputation for highly selective admissions.
