“US News & World Report” has released its list of top law schools for 2011. The top four slots remained exactly the same as in 2010 with Yale taking top billing followed by Harvard, Stanford, and Columbia. The University of Chicago climbed to #5 this year followed by New York University, which slipped from #5 to #6. There were no real significant climbs or drops at the top of the law school rankings this year. Just out of the top 10 were Duke University, Northwestern University, Cornell University, and Georgetown University. The number of Supreme Court Justices hailing from each institution is not a factor in the “US News & World Report” rankings. We think that it should be.
Here is “US News & World Report’s” 2011 top ten:
1. Yale University
2. Harvard University
3. Stanford University
4. Columbia University
5. University of Chicago
6. New York University
7. University of Michigan – Ann Arbor
7. University of Pennsylvania
9. University of California – Berkeley
9. University of Virginia
