Common Application Is Now Live
The Common Application is now live, the Common Application is now live! The Redcoats are coming, the Redcoats are coming! The Common Application went live on this first day of August 2017 and lo and behold, there are some glitches. For those who don’t follow the college admissions process year in and year out like some follow Major League Baseball, the Common Application has historically dealt with a number of glitches on its platform — notably during the fall of 2013. Those glitches led a number of colleges to extend their application deadlines.
In an email to members of the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) today — an organization Ivy Coach is a member of — Scott Anderson, Senior Director for Access and Education at Common App., addressed the platform’s current glitches. As Anderson wrote, “As I mentioned, we have identified the root cause of the account rollover and creation issues. We are working to implement the solution, which we hope to have in place this afternoon (Eastern Time). In the meantime, we are adding a message to the login page on the application to alert applicants to this issue, including a link to an FAQ that offers detailed information. If you or your students continue to experience the issue, please contact our support team. We are responding individually to each ticket, which will allow us to alert applicants as soon as this issue is resolved.”
