Common Application Account
For students who completed their Common Application in 2015-2016, their accounts will roll-over into 2016-2017. As Common App. has expressed, “Account Rollover will let anyone with a Common App account maintain that account from one year to the next. It is intended to be a learning tool, not a means of completing college applications prior to senior year.”
So all answers that students provide in the Profile, Family, Education, Testing, Activities, and Writing sections will be preserved for a one-year period. But if you’re wondering if a transfer student can use the same account for transfer applications as for applications from high school, the answer is no — those accounts cannot roll-over.
And can a student in 9th grade start a Common App. account and choose to roll it over each year? They can. But why bother? As articulated by Common App., “Account Rollover will be an annual process for all users, without consideration to grade level or user type (counselor, parent, etc.). So yes, in theory, a student who creates a Common App account as a 9th grader and goes through the rollover process each year would be able to carry that account through to senior year.”
