Georgetown University Class of 2024 Early Action Statistics

Early Action applications fell this year to Georgetown for the second year in a row, though it’s admit rate got even lower (photo credit: Patrickneil).

Georgetown University received 7,305 Early Action applications to its Class of 2024. Of these applicants, 856 earned admission. This marks an Early Action admit rate of 11.72%, a record-low (in spite of the fact that applications did fall for the second year in a row at the university). Last year, 7,802 applicants applied EA to Georgetown. So what’s to explain the drop in applications? Well, applications were down at many highly selective universities this fall but Georgetown applicants are often also interested in the University of Virginia and Boston College. Both UVA and BC instituted Early Decision policies this year, which could well have led students who otherwise would have applied under Georgetown’s non-binding policy to choose instead to apply to UVA or BC. But this of course is mere speculation. So what’s the breakdown of the Early Action admits to Georgetown University’s Class of 2024, you ask? Wonder no more!

Breakdown of the Early Action Admits to Georgetown’s Class of 2024

As Hansen Lian reports for The Hoya in a piece entitled “Class of 2024 Early Action Admissions Rate Hits Record Low,” among admits, 33-35 is the median ACT score, 720-760 is the average SAT verbal score, and 730-790 is the average SAT math score (these are 25th and 75th percentiles). “This year’s application pool continued to see a growth in applicants from minority groups. Twelve percent of the applicants self-identified as Black/African-American, 14% as Hispanic/Latinx, 20% as Asian-American and 1% as Native American. Admitted students came from 49 states and 31 countries. The state from which the most applications came was California, followed by Maryland and New York.”

Georgetown College Boasts Lowest Admit Rate Among Undergraduate Schools at Georgetown University

And how about the admission rates by school within Georgetown University? As Lian reports, “Of the early applicants, 4,109 applied to Georgetown College, and 450 were accepted at an acceptance rate of 10.95%, the lowest among the four schools. The School of Foreign Service received 1,508 applications and admitted 197 at an acceptance rate of 13.06%. The McDonough School of Business admitted 139 applicants out of 1,106 at an acceptance rate of 12.57%. The School of Nursing and Health Studies received 582 applications, admitting 70 at an acceptance rate of 12.03%.”
