The deadline for registering for the September ACT is fast approaching. It’s August 4th.

What are the upcoming ACT testing registration deadlines for 2017-2018, you ask? If you intend to take the ACT this year, you may have woken up with this pressing question on your mind. Ok, maybe not. But we figured we’d let you know these ACT testing registration deadlines anyway. After all, the September 9, 2017 ACT is fast approaching and the registration deadline is August 4, 2017. If you happen to miss that deadline, you can register for a late fee between August 5 – 18, 2017.

Below is a chart from ACT’s website of the deadlines for registration for each upcoming ACT administration. For 2017-2018, the ACT will be administered on September 9th, October 28th, December 9th, February 10th, April 14th, June 9th, and July 14th.

And for all of those students (but more often their parents) who wonder, “But don’t highly selective colleges value the SAT more than the ACT,” the answer is a firm no. Highly selective colleges value the SAT and ACT equally. If you happen to be from the East Coast or the West Coast, maybe the SAT is taken more frequently in your area. If you’re from the middle of the country, maybe the ACT is taken more frequently. Many students choose to take the ACT or the SAT based on their geography. And that is quite silly. Students should pick the test that they’ll do best on — not the test dictated by their geography. They are valued equally. We can’t stress this enough. And just in case you think the SAT is still valued more (we rarely hear the opposing argument), know that more students in America take the ACT than the SAT.
