Yale University Class of 2026 Admissions Statistics

Another year, another record for Yale University’s undergraduate admissions office. In all, between Early Action and Regular Decision, 50,015 students applied to Yale University’s Class of 2026, eclipsing last year’s record-breaking pool of 46,095 students. As our readers may remember, last year’s tally was up 33% from the Class of 2024. This year’s tally was up 7% from last year’s record figure. So in which direction are Yale applications headed over the years? That’s an easy one…up, up, and away! Of the 50,015 students who applied to Yale’s Class of 2026, 2,234 ultimately earned admission (800 earned admission through Early Action, 1,353 through Regular Decision, and another 81 through QuestBridge). That marks an approximate 4.5% overall admission rate, breaking last year’s record-low 4.6% overall admission rate. And just who earned admission to the Yale University Class of 2026?
As Mark Dunn writes in a press release for Yale News entitled “Yale College admits 2,234 from record applicant pool,” “Students admitted to the Class of 2026 represent 49 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, and 58 countries. They will arrive as graduates of more than 1,500 secondary schools, and their intended majors include 81 of Yale’s undergraduate academic programs.” And guess what? Bulldog Days, an event to inspire admitted Yale students to matriculate, will be back after a hiatus during the pandemic. As Jordan Fitzgerald writes in a piece for The Yale Daily News entitled “Yale admits 2,234 students, acceptance rate shrinks to 4.46 percent,” “This year’s class of admitted students will be the first group to be invited to New Haven for Bulldog Days — an admitted students program that showcases academic and extracurricular life at Yale — since the class of 2023 came to Connecticut in 2019. The event, which was held remotely during the last two admissions cycles, is set to run April 25-27.”
