As a beacon of American higher education, Yale University faces significant pressure to set new admissions records with each passing cycle. So, how did the Class of 2030 face up to this pressure? Well, 2,328 students were admitted to the Class of 2030 out of 54,919 applicants. While this year’s figures show both a lower acceptance rate and higher applicant volume than last year, they fall short of the records set by the Class of 2028 for most applicants and for the lowest acceptance rate.

Fortunately for the readers of this college admissions blog, there is a decent amount of info on these freshly admitted Bulldogs for us to dig our teeth into. So, without further ado, let’s explore the Yale Class of 2030.

Yale University Class of 2030 Statistics in Historical Perspective

For the past five years, Yale has received well over 50,000 applications each cycle. This year’s 54,919 applicants are no exception to this rule, while the 2,328 students offered admission also fall within the expected benchmark set by recent years. Regarding the 4.2% acceptance rate, this figure (while the envy of nearly all other elite colleges) is a more or less average performance on Yale’s part.

In other words, there’s not much to be particularly proud of or ashamed of this year, and Yale’s admissions officers are likely just relieved that there are no devastating numbers to report akin to the dips in applications seen for the Class of 2029 in the wake of Yale’s year of horrendous PR.

Profile of Yale Admits to the Class of 2030

As The Yale Daily News reports, “admitted students represent all 50 states, Washington, D.C., two U.S. territories and 75 countries, and they will graduate from more than 1,650 secondary schools. Prospective majors span 83 of Yale’s undergraduate programs.”

But for those of you looking for more comprehensive data, including the racial demographics, the gender ratio, or the proportion of Pell Grant applicants admitted this year, you’ll have to hold tight. That’s all she wrote for the Class of 2030, so far. But once Yale’s Common Data Set for this year arrives, such data will be at our fingertips.
