A Dartmouth student has set the new Ivy League record in the one mile run and his extraordinary achievement also marked the fastest mile in all of United States collegiate running this year. Today, senior Will Geoghegan broke the school’s one-mile benchmark that stood for twenty years. Geoghenan even broke the four minute barrier, clocking three minutes, fifty eight seconds, and four one hundredths. What an achievement it is for Dartmouth College to claim the fastest male miler in the nation!
But that’s not all that the Dartmouth track team can claim. Dartmouth also boasts the fastest female miler in the nation as Abbey D’Agostino just last night ran the fastest mile of any collegiate woman in the United States this year with her time of four minutes, twenty-eight seconds, and three one hundredths. What a feat it is for Dartmouth College to have the fastest male and female miler in the nation. The previous Ivy League record for the men stood about half a second slower and it was set in 2010.
We would like to congratulate Will Geoghegan and Abbey D’Agostino for cementing Dartmouth as one of the finest running schools in the nation. To claim both the fastest male and female milers in the nation is, quite simply, extraordinary.
