A famous Ivy League professor is leaving the Ivy League. And who might this be? Why, it’s Cornel West – the philosopher, author of “Race Matters,” civil rights activist, and cultural critic. After leaving Harvard in 2002 after a very public dispute with the university president, West has decided to depart from Princeton University to take a post as a professor of philosophy and Christian practices at Union Theological Seminary in New York City beginning next summer.
West has taught at Union before and the Harvard grad will remain an emeritus professor at Princeton University upon his departure. Conservative pundits will likely laud the departure of the liberal West from Princeton. We have a feeling he’ll be back. In the meantime, who will take the post of the Ivy League’s most controversial and widely known professor? Let us know your thoughts by posting below!
