Will your child be applying Early Decision to Dartmouth College in a little over a week’s time? If so, you might wish to have their application reviewed by a former Dartmouth admissions officer through Ivy Coach’s Senior Application Review. While there will certainly be mistakes that can’t be corrected at this late juncture, there will indeed be a whole lot of mistakes that can still be rectified — from descriptions of activities to topics of essays to specifics in that short 100-word Why Dartmouth essay. No, your child should not write that he or she wishes to go to Dartmouth because of their love for the great outdoors. It’s just not specific enough in a 100-word essay.

Ben Schwartz served for three years as an Assistant Director of Admissions at Dartmouth College.
