Applications to Dartmouth’s Class of 2022
It’s been a banner year at Dartmouth College for its Class of 2022. The College on the Hill received 22,005 applications during the 2017-2018 admissions cycle, a 9.8% increase in applications from a year ago when 20,034 students applied to the school. These figures mark the combined total between the Early Decision and Regular Decision pools. And, as the Founder of Ivy Coach, Bev Taylor, is quoted in “The Dartmouth” today in a piece on Dartmouth’s latest class, it marks the biggest spike in total applications since 2015. Go Big Green indeed.
Record Year for Dartmouth’s Class of 2022
As the Founder of Ivy Coach is quoted in America’s oldest college newspaper today, “[Taylor] said she noticed that more international students are applying to college with Dartmouth in mind. ‘It seems to me that the trend at Dartmouth under [vice provost for enrollment and dean of admissions and financial aid] Lee Coffin is more early decision and regular decision applications, lower admission rates and a higher overall enrollment,’ Taylor said. She added that Coffin had attributed these facts to the College’s new communications plan, publicly announced on Jan. 21, in which the College worked to increase Dartmouth’s publicity, especially promoting its focus on undergraduate teaching and research opportunities available for students that may not necessarily be available at other universities. In an email statement, Coffin wrote that the new communications plan ‘involves framing the College’s story around excellence in teaching/access to faculty and highlighting the opportunities afforded by our location.'”
In fact, sift through the last 15 years of admissions data, and you will not find bigger year-to-year gains in Early Decision applications at Dartmouth than for the Class of 2022. And Dartmouth’s Early Decision success carried over to the Regular Decision cycle too this year, as the figures so indicate. It’s Lee Coffin’s second year at Dartmouth after coming over from Tufts to run the admissions office and he’s seen year-to-year gains in the Early Decision and Regular Decision application pools each year. So you can bet the Dartmouth administration is quite happy with his work.
Good luck to all students who applied Regular Decision to Dartmouth College!
