2021 Ivy League Football Standings

In Ivy League football, a champion — or champions in the event of a tie atop the standings — has been crowned every year since 1956. Until last year of course when Dartmouth College and Yale University did not have an opportunity to defend their 2019 title due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But Ivy League football is back, baby, and three Ivy League universities currently sit atop the standings: Harvard University, Dartmouth College, and Princeton University. All three teams are 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Ivy League play. Yet it’s still early on in the season. So just which team will claim the 2021 crown? Will Dartmouth, already the Ivy League school with the most Ivy League football titles in history, grab another one? Will Harvard play spoiler?
Beyond the three currently undefeated Ivy League football teams, Yale University sits at 2-2 overall and 1-1 in Ivy League play. Columbia University, the 1934 Rose Bowl champion, sits at 3-1 overall and 0-1 in Ivy League play. The University of Pennsylvania is 2-2 overall and 0-1 in Ivy League action. Brown University is 0-3 overall and 0-1 in Ivy League play. And Cornell University, which had a very nice surge at the end of the 2019 campaign, sits in last place at 0-4 overall and 0-2 in Ivy League action.
This coming weekend, Princeton takes on Brown, Columbia faces UPenn, Cornell takes on Colgate University, Yale takes on the University of Connecticut, Harvard faces Lafayette College, and Dartmouth takes on the University of New Hampshire. So half of the Ivy League teams are facing opponents outside the Ivy League this coming weekend, while two games will impact the Ivy League standings. And if you’re asking us for our annual crystal ball prediction of which Ivy League school will take home the 2021 title, we’ve got that for you: we anticipate Buddy Teevens’ Dartmouth College squad will take home the crown once again.
