Merkel, Krasinski, Ma Among 2019 Ivy League Commencement Speakers

Anyhow, as reports Amy Kaplan for The Daily Pennsylvanian in a piece entitled “From Angela Merkel to Bill Nye: commencement speakers across the Ivy League,” the leader of the free world will be addressing Harvard’s 2019 graduates. Yes, Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, will speak at Harvard’s commencement exercises — the fourth German chancellor to do so at Harvard. Yo-Yo Ma, the remarkable cellist and a frequent visitor over the years to Dartmouth College, will address graduates of the College on the Hill. Ellie Kemper, an actress on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and The Office, will be the keynote speaker at Princeton University’s Class Day ceremony.

Another star of The Office, John Krasinski, will address grads of Brown University (Krasinski’s alma mater). Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a notable Nigerian author, will speak before graduates of Yale University. Bill Nye the Science Guy will address graduates of Cornell University. Bryan Stevenson, a distinguished human rights lawyer, will address graduates of the University of Pennsylvania. Columbia University — seemingly always last to the party — has yet to announce its 2019 commencement speaker.
