University of Virginia Class of 2026 Early Decision Statistics
The University of Virginia has released Early Decision notifications for the Class of 2026. In all, 1,098 students earned admission through the binding Early Decision program out of a pool of 3,500 applicants. By our arithmetic, that’s an Early Decision admission rate of 31.37%. 15 students also earned admission through QuestBridge. When you add in these students, the Early Decision admission rate climbed to 32%. For Virginia residents, the Early Decision admission rate stood at 37.8%. For out-of-state residents, the Early Decision admission rate stood at 25.1%. These figures are demonstrative of a clear advantage for in-state residents applying to their public institution. ED admits hail from 44 U.S. states and from 15 nations around the world.
As Jane Kelly reports for UVA Today in a piece entitled “UVA Welcomes First Members of Class of 2026 with Early Decision Notifications,” “‘This is the largest, deepest and most diverse early decision applicant pool we have ever seen. The students who applied this year are nothing short of remarkable,’ Greg Roberts, UVA’s dean of admission, said. ‘In this intensely competitive admission review, we do our best to make sure each and every applicant receives a thorough and thoughtful evaluation. While unfortunately we cannot offer admission to every qualified applicant, we are grateful to the students for their interest in UVA and their faith in the admission team.'”
Congratulations to all students who earned admission to UVA‘s Class of 2026 through Early Decision I! Go Cavaliers!
