University of Virginia Class of 2024 Early Admission Statistics
While some of our nation’s most elite universities experienced declines in Early applications for the Class of 2024, the University of Virginia experienced no such decline. Indeed UVA set a record this year — attracting 40,971 applications to the school Thomas Jefferson founded. The previous record? It was set last year: 40,804. So the figure isn’t up by much — but it’s up! And it’s up after UVA changed its Early admissions policy so students could apply through either binding Early Decision or non-binding Early Action. So how many students of the 40,971 applicants, a figure that includes Early Decision, Early Action, and Regular Decision candidates, have thus far earned admission to UVA’s Class of 2024?
Breakdown of the Early Admits to UVA’s Class of 2024
5,219 students have thus far earned admission to the elite public university in Charlottesville, Virginia. Of these 5,219 students, 748 earned admission via Early Decision while 4,471 earned admission via Early Action. As Jane Kelley reports for UVA Today in a piece entitled “University Unveils Early Action Decisions for UVA’s Class of 2024,” “The latest admission offers include 586 made to first-generation students. Women received 56% of the offers. The total offer rate for this year’s early action cycle is 21%…Of the students accepted under [Early Decision], 56 are first-generation scholars…Last year, UVA made 6,541 admission offers through early action. This year, the University is making a combined 5,967 offers through both early decision and early action.”
And if you’re wondering why UVA didn’t admit as many students this Early cycle as compared to last Early cycle, it’s simple: when 748 students are bound to attend — unlike last year — the school doesn’t need to extend so many feelers. It’s simple arithmetic. In any case, congratulations to all of Ivy Coach’s students who applied to the University of Virginia this past Early cycle to the Class of 2024. You all got in!
