University of Georgia Class of 2026 Early Action Statistics

Not many selective universities have yet released their Early Decision / Early Action statistics for the Class of 2026. Is it because applications to many of these schools may have dropped a bit from last year’s record highs and thus these schools don’t have as much to brag about in press releases? Only time will tell. But a couple of America’s top universities have released such figures — among them the University of Virginia and Yale University. Institutions like Boston College and Tulane University have also released decisions, though their figures have not yet been publicly reported. The University of Georgia is an exception to this rule. The university put out a press release today boasting of its record Early Action pool for the Class of 2026.
As Sara Freeland writes in a press release entitled “UGA sees record number of early applicants,” “The University of Georgia has accepted 8,900 students from 48 states and Washington, D.C., including 129 counties across Georgia, to become part of the undergraduate Class of 2026. ‘I am pleased to see that demand for a UGA education is greater than ever,’ said President Jere W. Morehead. ‘The students admitted through early action have demonstrated outstanding academic ability and ambition, and we are confident they will achieve extraordinary things at the University of Georgia.’ The university received a record 21,500 applications for early admission this year, up from 20,870 last year. The UGA Admissions Office began accepting the Common Application last fall, simplifying the application process for prospective students. Of the students who submitted early decision applications this fall, 95% did so through the Common App platform.”
Contrary to the words of the UGA press release, UGA does not, however, offer an Early Decision policy — only an Early Action policy. So the 8,900 students who have thus far earned admission to the University of Georgia Class of 2026 are not bound to attend. In any case, congratulations to the University of Georgia on their record Early Action application tally!
