The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has released its admissions statistics for the Early Action round of the Class of 2024. In all, 9,291 students applied Early Action to MIT this fall. Of these 9,291 applicants, 687 earned admission. Additionally, 6,792 applicants were deferred, while 1,622 were denied admission outright. It doesn’t require a degree in mathematics from MIT to determine that MIT’s EA admit rate for the Class of 2024 is thus a little over 7.3%. And if you’re curious how these figures stack up to last year — for MIT’s Class of 2023 Early Action round — EA applications were down, admits were down, and the EA admit rate stayed just about the same. For the Class of 2023 Early Action pool, 9,600 students submitted applications, 707 earned admission, and the EA admit rate stood at about 7.3%. So in order to maintain their admit rate this year, MIT admitted fewer applicants. Is that why the school admitted fewer applicants? Not necessarily! But, based on the rules of division, it is the reason why the admit rate stayed about the same.

Breakdown of MIT’s Class of 2024 Early Action Admits

So just who earned admission to MIT’s Class of 2024 this Early cycle? We love it when schools get specific. And MIT gets specific in their press release about the admits. We especially love it when specifics cited by colleges are, at times, our very own students at Ivy Coach. As MIT’s admissions office details, “These students hail from more than 500 high schools scattered across the globe, from Massachusetts to Malaysia and many places in between. We can’t wait to welcome them to campus to join the 4,516 outstanding undergraduates who already call MIT home. Though they are all different in their own way — canvassers and combinatorialists, raconteurs and rocketeers, waltzers and woodturners — they are united by a shared standard of rigorous academics, high character, and a strong match with MIT’s mission to use science, technology, and the useful arts to make the world a better place.”

We love those canvassers and combinatorialists, raconteurs and rocketeers, waltzers and woodturners. Congratulations to all of Ivy Coach’s students who earned admission to MIT this Early Action cycle. You all got in and we’re so happy for you!
