Columbia University historically releases its admissions statistics for the Early Decision and Regular Decision round later on in the year. But the early word is that Early Decision applications to Columbia University’s Class of 2025 were up 49% this fall. That’s right — 49%! As Melissa Korn reports for The Wall Street Journal in a piece entitled “Ivy League Colleges Report Dramatic Growth In Early-Admission Applicant Pools,” “Binding early decision applications rose by 22% at Brown University, 23% at the University of Pennsylvania, 29% at Dartmouth College and 49% at Columbia University. At Yale University and Harvard University, applications under the restrictive early-action option jumped by about 38% and 57%, respectively.”

Early Decision Applications to Columbia’s Class of 2025 Rise 49%

Last year, for the Class of 2024, 4,318 students applied under Columbia’s binding Early Decision policy. So, by our arithmetic, this means that an additional approximate 2,115 students applied Early Decision to Columbia’s Class of 2025. And it means that about 6,433 students in all applied ED this cycle to the Manhattan-based institution. Columbia’s previous benchmark for ED applications was set with the Class of 2023 when 4,461 students applied. So to suggest that Columbia moved the benchmark and then some would be somewhat of an understatement. Columbia’s ED application tally this fall shattered the previous record!

Ivy Coach’s Perfection at Columbia

And each and every one of Ivy Coach’s students who completed applications with us and who made binding commitments to attend the university earned admission. In fact, we’ve got quite the streak going at Columbia in the Early Decision round (all of our students who work with us through the years apply Early). Ivy Coach’s students who completed applications with us were perfect in the Early Decision round at Columbia for the Class of 2024. They were perfect for the Class of 2023. And they were perfect for the Class of 2022. Perhaps we should call ourselves “The Columbia Whisperer.”
