It’s a good year to be a Terrier. The Boston University Class of 2023 Early Decision statistics are in and we’ve got them for our readers. In all, BU received almost 2,500 applications this ED cycle. This figure marks about an 11% increase over last year’s Early Decision pool. As BU offers two rounds of Early Decision, applications in the second round were up too this year — by a margin of about 13% to over 2,200 applicants. Applications on the rise seem to be a trend at BU. If our readers remember, total applications to BU’s Class of 2022 also set a benchmark for the school.

A Record Early Decision Cycle for Boston University

As reports Rich Barlow for “BU Today” in a piece entitled “Early Decision Applications to BU Surge, Matching National Trend,” “BU projects that 40 percent of this fall’s incoming class will comprise those admitted by early decision. With those slots taken up, cutting the number of openings available with regular decision, [associate vice president for enrollment and dean of admissions Kelly] Walter says that many students fear that they’ll be disadvantaged in the admissions process if they wait to apply regular decision, when the competition is even keener. ’It’s the difference between applying in an ED applicant pool of 2,500 students or a regular decision pool of 60,000-plus students.’”

Congratulations to all students who earned Early Decision admission to Boston University and to the school’s admissions office for their banner year. Go Terriers!
