How competitive are the Early round admissions cycles for Bard College? Well, you’re not the only one with their sights set on this elite private liberal arts college. The acceptance rate data we have at our fingertips is a bit piecemeal. Still, it nonetheless paints a compelling picture of what Bard admissions officers think of applicants to one of their three Early rounds: Early ActionEarly Decision I, and Early Decision II

Bard College prizes these students who are willing to commit to Bard because they’ve demonstrated their interest in attending. However, there is yet another way that prospective Bard students demonstrate their commitment early on, and it’s one that surely pays off in the increased odds of admission it creates. But more on that later!

With the Class of 2030 admission cycle just right around the corner, you’ve come to the right place to review the Early round odds of admission at Bard over the last several years.

Bard College Early Decision & Early Action Acceptance Rate Over 6 Years

Here’s the combined Early Decision I and II acceptance rate at Bard over the past six admission cycles. Unfortunately, the Class of 2027 data is the most recent cohort for which Bard has publicly shared the acceptance rate. Moreover, ‘27 was the only year for which Bard announced an Early Action acceptance rate, hemming in our ability to interpret the trend in the EA acceptance rate over time.

Breakdown of the Bard College Immediate Decision Plan

Has Bard published any info on the Early admitted cohort in the Class of 2030? No. But there is an entirely unique fixture of the Early admission process at Bard that we at Ivy Coach would like to draw your attention to. Bard’s Immediate Decision Plan is “intended for students who are seeking a hands-on approach to their application process.” Bard’s website continues, “IDP participants engage in an immersive student experience where they participate in a class led by a Bard professor and have a conversation with an admission representative. . . Through this process, students receive an admission decision by the evening of the following business day. This process can be done through Early Decision and Early Action,” (our emphasis).

In other words, students who go the extra, extra mile of demonstrating interest by attending an IDP session at Bard have even higher odds of admission, even more so than those who apply via ED I or EA without attending an IDP session. However, since IDP is simply an additional measure for students who understand the importance of demonstrated interest, there is no specific acceptance rate for IDP applicants. Instead, this boost is factored into the Early round acceptance rates listed above.
