Carnegie Mellon University 2021-2022 Essay Prompts
Carnegie Mellon University has released its 2021-2022 admissions essay prompts for applicants to the Class of 2026. In total, CMU asks applicants to respond to three essay prompts. Each essay prompt has a 300-word maximum. So how many words should applicants to CMU’s Class of 2026 write in each essay? That’s right. As close to 300 as possible (if not 300). Applicants to our nation’s elite universities should always use all of the real estate they are given to make their case. And what are Carnegie Mellon‘s three essay prompts this year? Wonder no more!
The first CMU essay prompt reads, “Most students choose their intended major or area of study based on a passion or inspiration that’s developed over time – what passion or inspiration led you to choose this area of study?” The second essay prompt reads, “Many students pursue college for a specific degree, career opportunity or personal goal. Whichever it may be, learning will be critical to achieve your ultimate goal. As you think ahead to the process of learning during your college years, how will you define a successful college experience?” And the third essay prompt reads, “Consider your application as a whole. What do you personally want to emphasize about your application for the admission committee’s consideration? Highlight something that’s important to you or something you haven’t had a chance to share. Tell us, don’t show us (no websites please).”
