It’s nearing that time of year — commencement season. And so, in keeping with our annual tradition, let’s break down the who’s who of commencement speakers. Which universities landed a high profile speaker and which offered the slot to someone few have ever heard of? Wonder no longer because “US News & World Report” has come out with a list of some of these speakers.
President Donald Trump will be addressing graduates of Liberty University. No surprise there. Vice President Mike Pence will be speaking to graduates of the University of Notre Dame. President Bill Clinton will address graduates of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, while Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will speak before graduates of Medgar Evers College. Vice President Joe Biden will speak at Colby College (nice get for Colby!). Mark Zuckerberg will address his alma mater, Harvard University. Oh wait. He didn’t graduate! Details, details. Pharrell Williams will speak at New York University. Janelle Monae will speak at Dillard University. No, we’re not sure what Dillard is either. Perhaps it’s related to Dill Pickles? And Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will speak before graduates of the University of Houston.
We’ll be posting in the coming days more updates on 2017 commencement speakers since only a few of the schools included within the “US News & World Report” article are highly selective institutions. Sorry, Dillard. Dillard Fillmore? Oh wait, that was Millard. And we’ll be sure to post videos of some of the better commencement speeches in the days after the ceremonies as we always do.
