Ivy Coach Celebrates 30 Year Anniversary

We at Ivy Coach are proud to mark our 30th anniversary.

525,600 minutes,
525,000 moments so dear.
525,000 minutes –
How do you measure,
Measure a year?
In application cycles, in essay revisions, in acceptances, in cups of coffee.
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in post-acceptance celebrations.
In 525,600 minutes –
How do you measure a year in the life?

Ivy Coach was founded in 1992. By our arithmetic, this means that we are now celebrating our 30 year anniversary. 30 years — eight whole years before Tom Brady ever took the field for the New England Patriots! That’s 30 Early Action / Early Decision admissions cycles. That’s 30 Regular Decision admissions cycles. That’s 30 years of helping students find and showcase a hook. That’s 30 years of helping students revise essays. That’s 30 years of fixing students’ coursework mistakes. That’s 30 years of prepping students for the SAT and ACT. That’s 30 years of celebrating admissions decisions with our students and their parents (it used to be by carrier pigeon, now it’s all electronic — even at Georgetown).

Ivy Coach, founded by a former Long Island high school counselor who discerned a sizable gap in the early 1990’s between the advice that high school counselors offer their students and what it takes to actually earn admission to America’s most elite universities, has been helping students navigate the churning waters of the highly selective college admissions process ever since. And while much has changed in elite college admissions over the last three decades, much has also stayed the same. Testing is now optional? Submit those great test scores! An essay is optional? Write that essay! Don’t present as well-rounded. Be likable in your storytelling. Demonstrate your singular love for the school to which you’re applying. And on and on.

Since we’ve been around for 30 years now, that means some of our first students are now nearly 50 years old! That’s crazy to us. But we’re proud to help them earn admission to their dream schools. We’re proud to help create these unforgettable moments between parents and their children in which their children learn they achieved their dream. We’re proud to teach our students lessons on how to distinguish themselves that carry with them beyond the college admissions process, including in their careers. We’re proud to help so many veterans on a pro-bono basis. We’re proud to do what we do. And we hope to do it for another 30 years. Thank you to all of the families who have worked with us past and present. We can’t wait to work with your grandkids.
