Yale University in Singapore

Yale University is setting up shop in Singapore.

Yale University is partnering with the National University of Singapore to create a college in Singapore, the first school for Yale that is not located at its New Haven, Connecticut campus. Yale’s venture into Singapore is in line with the trend of American universities to broaden their global outreach by jumpstarting satellite campuses throughout the world.

Said Yale President Richard Levin, “Just as Yale shaped liberal arts education in the U.S. in the 19th century, we believe the new Yale-NUS College can play a pivotal role in shaping the many liberal arts colleges likely to be built in Asia in the coming decades.” While this is the first school established by Yale beyond its Connecticut borders, expect other Ivy League colleges and major U.S. universities to soon follow in their footsteps in becoming global universities.
