Vassar College has released its admissions statistics for the Class of 2023. In all, 8,961 students applied to the Poughkeepsie, New York-based school this year. Of these students, 2,098 earned admission. This marks an overall admission rate of 23.4%. Of these admits, 1,231 were women while 861 were men. 310 of admits earned admission during the Early Decision cycle while 1,777 earned admission during the Regular Decision cycle. 11 students who deferred their admission to Vassar’s Class of 2022 will be joining its Class of 2023.
Breakdown of Vassar’s Class of 2023 Admits
As Vassar reports in a congratulations to their admits, all 50 U.S. states are represented among admitted students in addition to Washington, D.C., Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Among students hailing from the most represented states in America, 450 admits come from New York, 277 from California, 119 from New Jersey, 115 from Massachusetts, 78 from Connecticut, 68 from Texas, 64 from Pennsylvania, 56 from Florida, and 55 from Illinois. Vassar’s international admits — 213 of them — hail from 60 nations.
15.9% of admits to Vassar’s Class of 2023 will be the first in their families to attend college. 44.5% are American citizens or permanent residents of color. And 17.5% of admits hold foreign (or dual) citizenship. 53.5% of admits who submitted an SAT score scored 750 or higher on the math portion, while 34% scored 750 or higher on the evidence-based reading and writing portion. 23.7% of admits who submitted ACT scores scored 35 or higher.
