University of Notre Dame Class of 2025 Admissions Statistics

The University of Notre Dame Class of 2025 admissions statistics are in the books. In all, 3,446 students earned admission — between Restrictive Early Action and Regular Decision — out of a record 23,639 applicants to Notre Dame’s Class of 2025. This marks an historic low overall admission rate for the South Bend, Indiana-based institution of 14.6%. Of the 3,446 admits to the latest incoming class, 1,673 earned admission through Restrictive Early Action, while 1,771 earned admission through Regular Decision. Based on these numbers alone, the answer to the question of whether or not there is an advantage to applying Early becomes obvious. There are only so many seats left by the time Regular Decision rolls around! No matter how loudly and how vociferously some admissions officers may tell you that there is no advantage in applying Early, the numbers tell the story.
Breakdown of the Admits to Notre Dame’s Class of 2025
As Ryan Peters reports for Notre Dame’s The Observer in a piece entitled “University admits 3,446 to class of 2025, sets record-low acceptance rate,” “[Vice President for Undergraduate Enrollment Don] Bishop said about 48% of this year’s admitted students are international students or U.S. students of color. As part of the 11.1% increase in total applications, there was a 9% increase in international applications. From the pool of admitted international students, 291 require an I-20 visa, 61 more than last year’s total. Considering dual citizens, U.S. citizens living abroad and students from other countries with a permanent residence in the U.S., about 20% of this year’s accepted students have global connections, Bishop said. Bishop said the admissions committees noticed a greater amount of applicants with higher class performance. He attributed this trend to the test-optional policy giving students more confidence to apply and also the University’s increased outreach to first-generation and low-income students.
Notre Dame’s Large Waitlist to the Class of 2025
And if you happen to be on the waitlist for Notre Dame’s Class of 2025, you are one of 3,101 with a spot in limbo. The waitlist queue has been dubbed “one of the largest in recent years” at Notre Dame, reports Peters. Last year, the university admitted an unprecedented 365 students off the waitlist to the Class of 2025, largely to fill the seats of students who opted to go the gap year route. We, like Notre Dame’s admissions czar, don’t anticipate that Notre Dame will reach as deep into their waitlist as the university did last year — since there is less uncertainty in light of the rollout of vaccines — but we do anticipate the school will reach deeper than in a typical year. But only time will tell. So do stay tuned!
Congratulations to Ivy Coach’s students who earned admission to the University of Notre Dame’s Class of 2025! Rah, rah, for Notre Dame. We will fight in every game.
