Syracuse Class of 2030 Statistics in Historical Perspective

Has Syracuse grown more selective each year? Not exactly. As a matter of fact, the highest acceptance rate recorded in the last thirteen years occurred during the 2019-2020 admission cycle, when a modest 68.72% of applicants received acceptance letters. However, during this window, applications to Syrcause have grown slowly but steadily each year, with the most recent cycle for which we have data, in which the Class of 2028 was admitted, producing a total applicant pool of 44,480. 

So why hasn’t the acceptance rate declined consistently if applications to Syracuse have increased during this window? The culprit lies in the number of admitted students each year, which has grown in tandem with the applicant pool. In all likelihood, the yield rate, or percentage of admitted students who enroll each year, has declined at Syracuse, necessitating larger cohorts of admitted students to account for the lower enrollment.

Profile of Syracuse Admits to the Class of 2030

We are still awaiting demographic data on the Class of 2030. Many schools have already released geographic information, gender breakdowns, socioeconomic distributions, and high school types for their admitted classes, but alas, those awaiting such metrics from Syracuse will need to be patient until university officials release this data publicly (as Syracuse is one of the few schools out there that doesn’t participate in the Common Data Set initiative, a federally-facilitated program for reporting admissions statistics).
