Spunk in College Admissions

We’ve got spunk at Ivy Coach, if you haven’t noticed. On our homepage, we basically tell prospective clients not to call us. Who does that? We do!
Spunk matters in highly selective college admissions. Oh yes it does. If we had to define in one sentence or less how we help our students at Ivy Coach earn admission to their dream colleges, it’s that we help make them wonderfully weird. That’s right. Wonderfully weird. And in order to help students present themselves as wonderfully weird, you’ve got to be creative. You’ve got to be original. You’ve got to have spunk in your own right. Because how else can you help make someone wonderfully weird? How else would you even know what wonderfully weird truly means?
Sometimes folks ask us what differentiates Ivy Coach from every other private college counseling firm, of which there are thousands. We dislike the question because we’d rather bake apple pies than sell our services. We have no interest in selling our services. Absolutely none. If students and parents want to work with us, terrific. If they don’t, we wish them all the best. We want to be around people who want to be around us, not folks who take convincing. Who has the energy? There are too many apple pies in this world to bake. Ok, that sounds absolutely ridiculous but we’ll own it. We love the ridiculous.
If the writing and overall website of a private college counseling firm isn’t all that interesting, how exactly can you expect that firm to help your children present themselves as interesting to admissions officers?
When students — and more often parents — ask us what differentiates Ivy Coach, we could point to our track record of helping students earn admission to their dream schools over the last quarter of a century. We could point to how we’re cited as the experts in just about every major news publication, including in the news publications of the universities to which their children will be applying. There’s lots we can point them to. But if someone really wants to know what differentiates us, read our website. There are thousands of pages of our website, each page of which is filled with unfiltered opinions and information about highly selective college admissions. It’s all articulated in a fun, easy to understand way. And then we urge you to read the template websites of just about every other private college counseling firm. All five pages of their sites with bland, entirely sleepy information.
Why exactly would you put your faith in a company to help make your child interesting to admissions officers at highly selective colleges if they can’t make themselves interesting on their own website? Sometimes, these firms are even so uninteresting that they copy portions of our website and writing, infringing on our express registered copyrights. It truly boggles our minds. But, alas, we’ve got an apple pie baking in the oven. We should probably check on it.
