Are you as excited as we are to dive into Johns Hopkins University’s admitted Class of 2030? You might have stumbled across this post to size up your chances for admission next year. Or perhaps you’re weighing your options after having been waitlisted. No matter why you’re here, you’ve come to the right place to get all the juicy details on the JHU Class of 2030.

That said, we must acknowledge that details about these newly admitted Blue Jays are still forthcoming. We know that, so far for the Class of 2030, 2,795 applicants have been offered admission in total, but the size of the pool out of which these applicants were chosen remains a mystery, and thus, so does the acceptance rate. 

As we eagerly await the acceptance rate for this private research university’s newest cohort of starry-eyed pupils, let’s unpack what we do know about the Class of 2030:

Johns Hopkins Class of 2030 in Historical Perspective

We would love to contextualize the Class of 2030 into Johns Hopkins’ historical acceptance rate, but alas, this data is nowhere to be found. However, the mere fact that 2,795 students were offered admission this year (compared to 2,525 students last year) is incredibly telling. 

This slight increase in admitted students cohort suggests that Johns Hopkins admissions officers anticipate a lower yield this year (A.K.A., that fewer students who are admitted will enroll), suggesting that the competition was likely not quite as steep this year compared to years past, and that when the data is finally reported, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if it showed a modest number of applicants to the Class of 2030. But until this data arrives, all we can do is speculate!

Profile of the Johns Hopkins Admits to the Class of 2030

The admits to the Class of 2030 hail from all 50 U.S. states, 28 countries, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands

A press release from JHU further elucidates these details by explaining that “of the admitted students, 19.5% will be the first in their families to go to college, and 67% attend a public high school. Sixty-two percent plan to enroll in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, and the remainder plan to enroll in the Whiting School of Engineering.”

Taken as a whole, this data is much more comprehensive than the data that other elite colleges have released during this admissions cycle, but some questions still need answering. What is the gender ratio of this incoming class? What about the racial demographics? What percent will apply for financial aid, and what percent are recipients of Pell Grants?
