With “Admission” out in theaters now and with another movie based on a book involving college admissions in development as a star vehicle for Will Ferrell, it should come as no surprise that Bravo is developing a reality television series called “Ivy League Confidential.” We should disclose that we were approached to participate in this series by the producers of the show but, let’s face it, reality television is trash. We get approached every year by multiple production companies hoping to do a show set in this world but nothing ever seems to come of them. So what’s the show about, you ask? If the title didn’t give it away, it’s about the cutthroat process of getting into Ivy League colleges.
According to “Deadline’s” article on “Ivy League Confidential,” “When money is no object and you want to make sure your child gets accepted into one of the top universities in the world, what else do you do but hire the country’s best college admissions consultants. ‘Ivy League Confidential’ follows a group of four elite college admissions consultants in New York and Los Angeles as they deal with over-the-top, pampered clients (both the parents and the children) that, unfortunately for our counselors, expect nothing but Ivy League results.”
Uh huh. We’re sure they’re “elite” college admissions consultants considering there are only a few companies that are deserving of that designation in the nation (and none that we know of based in Los Angeles). We’re one of those elite companies and we’re not too shy to say it. Anyhow, we’re curious to see if this show will make it out of development hell and onto TV. Our guess is…it won’t.
