What Is Villanova University?

Located (perhaps predictably) in Villanova, Pennsylvania, Villanova has a student body of roughly 6,735 undergraduates. According to the 2024-25 Common Data Set, 3,067 full-time undergraduate males and 3,667 undergraduate females are currently enrolled. The class profile reveals that current first-years represent all 50 states and 73 countries. As with many other elite colleges, there are far more women on Villanova’s campus than men.

Villanova University Admissions Requirements

Villanova GPA Requirements

Villanova does not establish minimum GPA requirements for admission, but this should be viewed cautiously. Do the actual statistics support this seemingly lenient academic policy? No. According to The Common Data Set, 47% of admitted students graduated from high school with a 4.0 GPA, and nearly all the rest had a GPA in excess of 3.75. So having great grades amounts to a de facto requirement.

Does Villanova University Look at Class Rank?

The Common Data Set is once again illuminating on this point, revealing that 76% of the Villanova Class of 2028 admits, the most recent cohort for which there is public data, graduated in the top tenth of their high school graduating class.

Villanova University SAT/ACT Score Requirements

SAT or ACT scores are in the Villanova admissions process through the 2026-2027 admissions cycle. But optional never truly means optional in the case of elite college admissions, meaning you should absolutely submit test scores if you want to show Villanova you mean business.

However, at Ivy Coach, we caution against submitting more than one SAT administration for admissions evaluation. It indicates to Villanova that you had to work harder than many others to achieve your highest scores and that your testing performance has shown inconsistencies. However, while it’s not ideal, students sometimes need to superscore.

What Extracurriculars Does Villanova Look For in Applicants?

There is no single extracurricular activity that will impress Villanova admissions officers. Applicants should concentrate on pursuing their passion or specialty to the fullest extent possible.
