Duke University has released all of its admissions decisions for the Class of 2024. In all, 39,783 students applied to Duke this year — a figure that includes both Early Decision and Regular Decision data. This same figure stood at 41,651 for Duke’s Class of 2023 so, consistent with the trend across most of America’s highly selective universities this year, total applications were down. And how did Duke’s acceptance rate for the Class of 2024 stack up against last year’s figure? Wonder no more!
The overall acceptance rate for the Duke Class of 2024 was 7.7%. The overall acceptance rate for the Class of 2023 stood at 7.8%. In the Regular Decision round for the Class of 2024, 6% of applicants received acceptance letters from Duke (2,170 students drawn from an RD applicant pool of 36,252 students — a total figure that includes 769 students deferred from the Early Decision round). As our readers may remember from back in December, Duke offered Early Decision admission to 21% of this year’s applicants, up 3% from the ED round for the Class of 2023 (887 students drawn from an ED applicant pool of 4,300 students).
