The Amherst College Class of 2023 admissions statistics are in the books. In all, 10,567 students applied for Regular Decision admission to Amherst College’s Class of 2023. Of these students, 1,144 earned admission, marking a Regular Decision admit rate of 11%. These students hail from 48 states in addition to Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. 11% of these admits are international students. 56% identify as students of color: 21% as African American, 20% as Asian American, 18% as Latinx, and 3% as Native American, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander.
As reports Rachel Hanley in an Amherst College press release entitled “Introducing the Admitted Class of 2023,” “Amherst is a founding member of the QuestBridge program—a national nonprofit that matches exceptional, low-income youth across the country with leading colleges—and 129 students successfully applied through that program this year. All admitted students are now invited to come to Amherst for open houses in April. ‘I am so inspired by the students who apply to Amherst,’ says Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Matt McGann. ‘These students are truly remarkable. I am certain this is a group of students who will make a difference in the world through their ideas.'”
Congratulations to all students who earned admission to Amherst College’s Class of 2023! And, while you’re here, check out how this cycle’s figures at Amherst compare to last cycle’s.
